Jack Brouwer, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, has been named a UC Irvine
Chancellor's Fellow, effective July 1, 2022.
Chancellor's Fellows are faculty with tenure whose recent achievements in scholarship evidence extraordinary promise for world-class contributions to knowledge, and whose pattern of contributions shows a strong trajectory to distinction. The campus title carries an award of up to $25,000 per year for three years in support of research.
Brouwer is a highly recognized researcher in alternative energy and has consistently contributed to UCI's prominence in the field of energy and the environment. His research interests are high-temperature electrochemical dynamics and integrated energy systems research, which includes fuel cells, gas turbines, electrolyzers, and solar and wind power.
Brouwer is also director of both the
National Fuel Cell Research Center and the
Advanced Power and Energy Program. The NFCRC is a component of APEP, which addresses the development and deployment of efficient, environmentally sensitive, sustainable power generation and energy conversion worldwide.
